How Long It Actually Takes to Make a Custom Cake
Share

Custom cakes don't happen overnight. Here's a realistic timeline of what goes into making one:
Day 1: Planning and Design
Before any baking begins, there's planning. Reviewing your request, sketching ideas, confirming colors and details, and gathering the right materials.
Day 2: Baking
Cake layers are baked, cooled completely, and wrapped to stay fresh. Depending on the size, this can take several hours.
Day 3: Leveling, Filling, and Stacking
Each layer is leveled for evenness, filled with frosting or other fillings, and carefully stacked. This creates the structure of your cake.
Day 4: Crumb Coating
A thin layer of frosting is applied to seal in crumbs and create a smooth base. The cake is then chilled so the coating sets properly.
Day 5: Final Decorating

This is where the magic happens. The final layer of frosting goes on, and all the custom decorations—piping, fondant work, hand-painted details, edible flowers—are added with care.
Day 6: Boxing and Storage
The finished cake is boxed and stored until pickup or delivery.
In total, a custom cake can take anywhere from 3 to 6+ days from start to finish. And that's why we ask for advance notice!
